Hiring professional painters is a great way to give your home a fresh, polished look — but a little preparation on your end can help ensure the job goes smoothly and efficiently.
At Murga Pro Painting Solutions, we do all the heavy lifting when it comes to prepping, painting, and cleaning up — but here are a few simple things you can do to prep for painters:
✅ 1. Clear the Walls
Take down artwork, mirrors, photos, clocks, and any other wall decor. This helps prevent damage and gives painters a clear surface to work with. We advise that you leave in the nail holes of anything you want to hang back up, but any nails that are removed we will patch the holes.
Tip: If you have nails or screws you’d like left in place, just let us know by leaving them in the wall.
✅ 2. Move or Cover Furniture
For interior jobs, we recommend moving small furniture pieces away from the walls. For larger items, we’re happy to help move and cover them on-site — but clearing the space ahead of time can speed up the process. Remove all small items from shelves and clear off countertops.
Pro tip: Store fragile or valuable items in a safe area during painting.
✅ 3. Remove Window Treatments & Switch Plates
Take down any curtains, rods, or blinds near the painting area. Also, remove outlet covers and switch plates if you're comfortable doing so. (If not, no worries — we can handle that too.)
✅ 4. Clean Surfaces (If Needed)
While we always prep surfaces before painting, giving walls a light dusting or wiping down any greasy spots (especially in kitchens or bathrooms) helps paint adhere better.
✅ 5. Secure Pets & Communicate Schedules
If you have pets, make sure they’re in a safe area away from the work zone. Also, let us know your preferred schedule so we can plan the project around your routine and minimize disruption.
✅ 6. Ask Questions Before We Start
We want you to feel confident and informed. If you're unsure about colors, finishes, timelines, or anything else — just ask! We’re here to guide you through every step. We've got a check list below for finer details!

Prepping your home for painting doesn’t have to be stressful. With just a few small steps, you’ll help us deliver the smooth, beautiful finish your space deserves.
